He is a native Idahoan, born and raised in Boise. As a state, Idaho is known more for its potatoes than for its dance, and this certainly influenced Seth from early on. He grew up working outdoors and riding horses. The subtle physicality of horseback riding resonated deeply, and would later draw him away from his studies of Mathematics and Vocal Performance into his first dance experience. Eventually Seth found himself at North Carolina School of the Arts, where he earned his BFA and reputation for hard work, raw physicality in his dancing, and surprising and musical choreography. Since moving to New York in 2006 to dance with Randy James Dance Works, Seth has performed and collaborated with numerous companies in New York City and New Jersey. But in 2010, the creative process lured him into beginning his own work, and he established Seth Miner Dances. Less than a year into this endeavor, Seth's work has been seen twice in New York at the City Center Studios, and has toured to San Francisco. In addition to choreographing, Seth also teaches and has been enthusiastically received as a guest teacher at programs such as Rutgers University Dance Department.
